At Challenge & Fun our tagline is "Simple - Natural - Adorable". These three words sum up the criteria we use in our product selection process. To be honest, there are times when a toys is a little more complex, or maybe not 100% natural, or, well, beauty is in they eye of the beholder. In any case, this is what we strive for, and we feel we typically hit 2, if not 3 of these targets with each of the products we sell.
But the question is why? Why does it matter? Let's explore the idea of simplicity in today's blog.
Simple toys, such as wooden blocks, balls, and dolls, come without batteries and bright colors. They rarely need instructions, and the design can be considered minimalistic in many cases. Simple toys have a multitude of values that contribute to a child's emotional, cognitive, and physical development.
Emotional Development: Simple toys often promote imaginative play, which helps children to express their emotions and work through challenges they may be facing. This type of play allows children to experiment with different roles and scenarios, and helps to build their confidence and emotional intelligence.
Cognitive Development: Simple toys often have a low level of stimulation, which allows children to focus and concentrate for longer periods of time. This type of play also helps to build problem-solving skills, creativity, and critical thinking abilities.
Physical Development: Simple toys often encourage movement and physical activity, helping to improve fine and gross motor skills, coordination, and overall physical fitness. Our balance boards are one example of this.
Aesthetics: Simple toys often have a natural and timeless quality, which adds to their beauty and longevity. They often have a timeless aesthetic appeal and can be enjoyed by multiple generations of children.
Safety: Simple toys are often made from natural materials, such as wood or cloth, which are safer and more environmentally friendly than synthetic materials. Additionally, most simple toys do not have small parts or batteries that could pose a choking hazard, making them safer for young children.
Simply put, the value of simple toys lies in their ability to support emotional, cognitive, and physical development, as well as their timeless aesthetics and safety. These toys offer children a chance to engage in imaginative play and develop their skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
We encourage you to relish the simple.
